We might have the most IDIOTIC display of internet mobsters critiquing the most NORMAL, healthy thing possible: a marriage where both spouses think the other is hot. Give me a break.

Ok, to talk about this, I have to ask, has anybody else been watching the new Duffy family reality TV show?

To be honest - while I love the Duffy family - the whole situation is a bit odd. Apparently, the Department of Transportation wanted to create a road trip reality show to help encourage families to go on trips around the United States as a part of America250. And this makes sense for the Duffy family considering that Sean Duffy is the head of transportation AND that he and Rachel Campos Duffy, his wife, met on a reality TV show called Road Rules: All Stars back in 1998. 

HOWEVER, this road trip series was supposed to come out back in June, and strangely, it has only been released this week in August, when most American children are already back in school. So who knows what has happened there? As cute as the show might be, no one is taking summer road trips now.

ANYWAY, over on YouTube, the first episode has only received about five thousand views, but on X, as it usually happens, the clips are going viral. 

One that really has people up in arms is a clip where Sean and Rachel are talking to their teenage daughter about how they don’t want her to go to Harvard. You can watch it here:

And I get why internet detractors hate that clip. It’s overtly political, it’s ragging on one of their beloved institutions, they see it as an oppressive father holding his child back - it’s not shocking people had an issue with it.

But MOVING ON, the breakout clip that REALLY interests me - that is just so ridiculously normal, is a clip where Rachel is giving marriage advice, and her advice was very simple: you should marry somebody that you are attracted to.

CUE THE FIREWORKS! EVERYONE HOLD ONTO THEIR HATS! THIS IS INSANITY!!

Ok, but no joke, that is how commenters over on X are reacting.

I’m sorry, but this is… normal. This is common sense. And isn’t this something that people should WANT?

Now listen, I think Rachel was being humorous and tongue-in-cheek here, but also… she’s right. Life is hard and marriage is a commitment you continue to make through every moment of frustration, anger, and instability. You’re marrying someone who is going to see you at your worst, and you’ll see them at theirs. You’ll have to forgive and make up.

THE BARE MINIMUM IS THAT YOU FIND THE OTHER PERSON HOT! Maybe bare minimum isn’t the right way to put it, but hell, it just makes marriage that more fun.

And if you’re dating someone - and on the path towards marriage - and you aren’t attracted to them, get off of that train ASAP.

Now, immediately in the comment section, people started saying that Rachel was vain and shallow. 

And obviously, they were only saying this because they’re searching for something to be angry about because her husband works for the Trump administration and she is a Fox News contributor, when in reality, everything that she said is completely accurate.

I know that the Left has pushed for marriage to be this soulless, Godless institution that oppresses women, but I feel like we should AT LEAST be able to agree on the attractiveness factor of a healthy marriage.

And calling a woman shallow for this, while intentionally ignoring her tongue-in-cheek attitude is just dense and wrong.

OK. Rant over.

My anecdote for the week is that we had about every farm challenge you could imagine in the span of 4 days. Broken tractors, broken fences, NASTY weather that felt like 105 degrees, a cow rejecting her new baby, a vicious pig that had to be loaded up for the butcher… and worst of all, having to hitch up a trailer and direct my husband from outside the truck.

I mean talk about life’s CHALLENGES! NOTHING will challenge a relationship - romantic or not - like dealing with some kind of trailer. But I’m happy to tell you all that we - meaning me and my extremely handsome husband - made it. The trailer was hitched without raised voices, and we masterfully navigated it through pastures and gates to get Patsy the angry pig loaded up. Even in the rain!

But if things had gone awry, it wouldn’t have been a problem because I think he’s just that dang cute. Ha! Take that angry comments section.
