Welcome to your weekly round-up of everything I’m loving.
The Scroll by Brett Cooper
Greetings from the Last Frontier! The snow storm to end all snow storms! We are buckled down here at the farm. Hoping for the best - an over-dramatized dusting of snow - and preparing for the worst - a historic ice storm.
I’ve been vlogging as we gear up for it, so hopefully you’ll have an eventful winter storm video up on cooperconfidential.com this week!
Either way, I’m so excited to see you here! And what a week to pick back up my newsletter. If you’ve been on X, you might have seen that I made some waves… which actually is one of my least favorite things to do. I love creating content for YOU guys, but I actually don’t really love going “viral.” Seeing myself on my own feed… TERRIBLE! One day I’ll get better with that.
But this actually seems like the perfect time to recap and share some thoughts.
First things first, a couple things:
Humor does not equal endorsement, it simply means not having a stick up your ass at all times… in my book.
Always watch the full video.
Those are the notes running through my mind this week as I see folks demand that I say things or answer questions… that I did answer in my video about the manosphere weekend to end all weekends! Or argue that finding entertainment in something means you find it all morally sound. Guess I need to rebuke the hours I spent watching TOO HOT TO HANDLE on Netflix… which to be honest, I should do anyway. ;)
And funnily enough, the response to that video is exactly why I made it. Two years ago, our own side - Conservatives, Republicans, common sense-rs, whatever you want to call us - was so united. We had common enemies and goals. We FOUGHT for comedy, especially the edgy kind. We mocked the left for being too sensitive! And I loved every minute. I felt secure in every episode I did.
These days, we’re increasingly fractured as the right fights over serious ideological and political issues. We are fractured as the Con Inc. media industry shifts and new voices take hold. Fingers are being pointed every day. In a lot of ways, it’s made me bitter and pessimistic.
I get worried about if I’m posting things that are truly valuable, if I’m just adding to the noise, or if I’m going to offend people I care about because of the things that make me laugh or stand out to me. It’s odd.
I posted that video because the content genuinely cracked me up. It was so utterly ridiculous and epic in its otherworldliness. The comedy came from this strange group of characters - most of whom I’ve spent significant airtime ripping into in the past - all spending a fever dream evening together. Simple as that.
And let me tell you, the fallout from that weekend has been even better. Had Blake Lively and Taylor Swift not decided to have the most 14-year-old girl coded text messages EVER, I might have just done a second video.
I mean, guys… 40 year old men going back and forth over WHO DECIDED to play that song. Public spats over who is a REAL, Top G A-List celebrity. Men caught on camera arguing over being “fair weather friends.” MEANWHILE, a 20 year old who has hammered all the brain cells out of his head is coining the term JESTERMAXXING and is still at the club. BRAVO couldn’t dream of producing something as crazy. And these are the same men who say that women are too emotional to be taken seriously. HA! It’s too good.
ANYWAY, when I haven’t been trying to become an amateur meteorologist this week, this is what I’ve been following and watching.
Virginia Is Proof That Local Elections Matter
The new Democrat government in Virginia has had power for about a MILISECOND, and they are already going full speed ahead. Once again proving that when the Democrats have power, they band together to wield it. They aren’t tiptoeing around. They aren’t worried about, “Oh, what if the Republicans turn around and do this to us?” They don’t give a damn. That’s a lesson I also need to take to heart.
Take a look at this list of proposed legislation:

And my personal favorite was one that would remove the standard requirements for achieving a high school diploma… AKA having passing grades. Why? Equity! Obviously. I can’t wait for them to turn around and tell us HOW MANY amazing graduates they have compared to our backwards red states…
Local elections have consequences, arguably more than presidential elections when it comes to our everyday lives. Make sure you show up.
Cultural Appropriation Is OVER!!!
GUYS, I am obsessed with being late diagnosed CHINESE!! You certainly caught me at a very Chinese moment in my life. I’m wearing slippers. I’m eating hot foods. Sipping on broth and hot water!
Ok, if you’re confused. It’s a TikTok trend. People are getting into Chinese culture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the joke is that we are all now Chinese. Hence, being late diagnosed.

The videos are hysterical, and everyone is in on the jokes. The Chinese community on TikTok is SUPER into it and is being very welcoming. And I can’t help but wonder if this could have taken place in 2020 or 2021. When a white girl getting braids on her Caribbean vacation was a literal hate crime.
Like NOW you all see it as “appreciation?!” Now you can take a joke?!
Is the lesson of the week that the Left has FINALLY gotten a sense of humor just as the Right loses theirs?
