The sexual energy is off the charts this week.
Dear reader,
The sexual energy is off the charts this week. I KNOW! Not the first sentence you were expecting to read today, but let me explain.
First of all, we’ve talked about this before, but corporate America is obsessed with sex in marketing. Obviously, the cliche “sex sells” isn’t new, but I feel like in decades past, the sexual advertising was… well, actually attractive. These days, it’s just Millennials coming up with cheap explicit jokes to put in advertisements, or menu items named “THE SEXY SLUTTY EGG BISCUIT.”
That’s not hot. It’s about as necessary as most sex scenes in movies are these days.
And so THAT my friends is why I took issue with Pepsi’s recent posts on social media, NOT because they were perpetrating “RAPE CULTURE.”
Ok, so the story is simple. This was posted by Pepsi on Threads and X:

Oh boy, and all hell broke loose.
Now I read this as Cherry being some kind of wild child, like the feminist rallying cry of “doing you, baby” and not giving an F what anyone thinks! But no. According to a certain subset of the population, this was deeply harmful.
Look at these posts:

The ONNNLLLYYY way to interpret it is sexual assault. LifeandAlex, please, please come back down to earth with us here.
Now this whole response was so ironic because as many pointed out, this post was most likely made in reference to feminism. Like I said, being a free spirit, a wild child, but when they HEAR that, instead of promoting it, then its problematic.

It’s just too much.
But back to the sexual marketing, I didn’t even read it as sexual. But I CERTAINLY did on two of their other posts:

I mean seriously people, it’s a soda. It’s one of the most popular sodas in the world. Is this necessary? It’s also just… not even clever or funny. If you’re going to do something sexy, maybe actually exude some attractiveness and allure. Thanks very much.
But alas, 16 million people interacted with the tease me post, so maybe it worked and that’s all they care about.
They did, however, delete their rape joke post, and replaced it with an apology:

Now next up on the ahem sexual news agenda… BIG BOOBIE BRYON and Kristi Noem… are getting a divorce.
I mean, can you believe it? It’s like this came out of left field? Can’t a man wear extremely large prosthetic boobies and talk to women online anymore?? LOL.
Anyway, here is the post from TMZ:

Immediately it stood out to me that this information came from her MOM, vs. some kind of anonymous source. Knowing mothers, and you know, having experience with my own, I doubt Kristi approved this statement, but when you feel your child has been wronged or hurt, no amount of “please don’t say anything,” can stop those fingers from typing, liking comments, or I guess, speaking to TMZ, of all places!!
I look forward to the day my own children have to deal with that kind of love. Ha!
My friends, other than that, I’ve been laughing at the press tour for THE ODYSSEY, enjoying Jennifer Lawrence’s press interviews for her new movie (she’s always candid, refreshing, and very pro-motherhood), and following the story of Bill Gates’ nepo daughter’s startup fraud! Did she know about the fraud or was it just a glitch in the code? That is the question.
RECENT CONSUMPTION:
Red Rising by Pierce Brown: I’m so embarrassed to admit, but after opening and closing this novel about 4 times, downloading it on my Kindle where I watched it gather metaphorical dust, I finally read it. Holy crap. I mean, really, HOLY CRAP.
YOU MUST READ IT. Women, if you love the Hunger Games books, you will love this. And men, you should read it because yes it’s dystopian, sci-fi, and there are lots of sick battles, but truly, I haven’t seen such complex, interesting male characters in a novel in a long time. Naturally, most of the books I pick up are female driven, but on a whole, as I’ve talked to Alex and other friends, there has been a noticeable decline in books with strong male protagonists. If you feel that way, this book will solve it. The characters are flawed, introspective, passionate, and good. GO READ!
YOUNG WASHINGTON (film): Okay, I know I’m sponsored by ANGEL Studios, but I had to include this and share. Alex and I watched their new film YOUNG WASHINGTON last week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This kind of lines up perfectly with the book I just talked about because if you’re looking for a movie to take your sons to, THIS IS IT!
The actors are great and it is shot BEAUTIFULLY (my friend was the DP, but I PROMISE I’m not too biased). To me, it almost felt like a younger man’s DUNKIRK (the Christopher Nolan film). It was extremely driven by the battles and adventures a young George Washington was embarking on, and that was a majority of the film. Just because of my taste, I wish it was a bit more character driven coming-of-age in the traditional sense (vs. following military action), but that is just my personal taste. And the young men I’ve seen posting about it online, just absolutely love it.
So again, TAKE YOUR SONS! It is good, clean, beautiful fun.
Thank you ANGEL for making movies for the whole family and for the Americans Hollywood ignores! Xo
Ok talk to you next week! Gonna go attempt to not get sunburned. :)
